Viallière Côte-Rôtie Syrah

Superb showing, mamy years ahead of it but the Viallière tannin has softened considerably. Rich and dense as expected given the vintage yet very regal and elegantly textured. Soaked black cherry and plum, hung meat, cracked pepper, leather, wilted violet, juniper and mint, pastille and damp earth. Lovely iron and woodsy notes accompanying. WC bringing frshness, focus, and a beautiful spice component. Perfect with bœuf bourguignon.

So crunchy and mineral at first then unwound into a blanket of smoke and spice. Another finesse driven Syrah with a rustic edge to add to the complexity. Huge potential to those who can wait.

A little woody, but classic Cote Rotie fruit beneath it.

Killer

Aromatic and bright with grippy tannins.

Dark fruits, licorice and smoke. Berries in the nose, which was great. Rest was okay but even after tasting over five hours, the wine is pretty subdued. Wish had opened this morning.
