Looking for a vintage bubbles to enjoy this festive season? The Clover Hill Vintage Brut 2014 is ya girl!

A big thanks to Clover Hill in Tassie for this sample. We definitely enjoyed every last drop. It’s made from the classic 3 bubbles grapes: Chardonnay (66%), Pinot Noir (32%) and Pinot Meunier (2%).

It’s $45 a bottle normally however if you’re in the Clover Hill Club you’ll get it for only $36 😱

There’s no sign-up fees or contracts with the club + if you sign up this season you get a free sparkling magnum (1.5L) with your first delivery! Woohoo, Merry Christmas!

In the glass this 2014 Brut reminded us of morning sunshine. On the nose it has a lovely nutty maple depth to it with orchard fruits, vanilla spice and it a salty, citrusy whiff to it. In the mouth it’s über smooth and absolutely delectable. Lovely length and complexity. Beautiful 😍

PS: It matched with packing up your house to move very well 😉

On Friday I visited the Clover Hill cellar door in Tasmania from my dining table!

Clover Hill were hosting their ‘virtual cellar door’ on Facebook to taste some wines and share tips, tricks and plenty of wine education. It was a great session and I’m already looking forward to the next one.

“It’s not just the taste or smell, it’s the texture too. Don’t discount textural characteristics.” Ian White (wine educator and cellar door manager).

I loved this point from Ian! The way a wine feels in your mouth is a really important part of the experience when enjoying a wine.

While attending the virtual cellar door we opened this sample bottle (thank you!) of the Clover Hill 2013 Vintage Release Brut sparkling wine. And oh boy did it go down well.

It’s made of 63% Chardonnay, 31% Pinot Noir, 6% Pinot Meunier and in the traditional method. Plus some of the wine has been aged in small-format french oak foudres and barriques. Here’s my notes on it:

In the glass it’s a cashmere yellow with tiny dancing bubbles. The nose is full of freshness with citrus, pear, pastry and minerality coming to mind for me. While in the mouth it’s smooth and creamy with rich yet elegant notes of apple and lemon dominating for me and it ends wonderfully with a nice long finish. Gorgeous bubbles.
