The Foucault brothers are gods. Trying to decide if I like the wines younger and fresher or 'properly' aged. I think I like the relative youth.

This was good, but not great, and it as good as it's younger stable mate. I don't have much experience with Rougeard, but I'm inclined to grade harshly based on price and scarcity alone.

2007 vintage. Clos de Rougeard, Le Bourg. At Hotel Les Crayeres in Reims. Medium ruby hue. The nose is outstanding - huge complexity of mixed berries with a fresh raspberry dominance, spices, licorice, herbs, white pepper, saddle leather, herbal tea. With air, some smokey gun flint. Amazing. On the palate, a little tight - medium minus body, medium plus acidity, medium alcohol and very long finish. Good concentration - savoury and spicy. Wonderful. Drink now until 2036+.

Thought I pulled a bottle of "clos" and had pulled cork before realizing. There ARE worse things to have happened. 2007

2007 Le Bourg from Clos Rougeard. Medium ruby. Spectacular nose of pencil shavings, pepper, green peppers, black fruits, leather and dried meats, with purple freshly picked violets in the background. On the palate, sweet red fruits pour down the throat. More red fruit - strawberry compote, with black currants. Lots of fresh herbal notes that work so well with the sweet lush fruit. Medium bodied. Great mid palate, integrated acidity, medium tannins - soft and round. Fabulous finish.
