Clos Pegase
Hommage Carneros Chardonnay

This is just brilliant on every level. Oodles of runway ahead of it. Absolutely no signs of aging - happy new year, DL peeps!

Dec 31st, 2020Great wine made better by a great setting. Before talking about the wine, I have to first thank @Scott Petrus. His dedication to California Chardonnay fortified me with the bravery to buy this wine. As for the wine, I was initially worried about the oak on the nose, but that quickly diffused with some air. Nose of baking spice and and citrus. On the palate, initial bright fruit rounds into melon and green apple well balanced by lightning acidity and accented by toasty baked notes and a bit of vanilla from the oak. Great wine, and not that it matters, but really pretty bottle.

v13. Classic... bold creme brûlée nose. Rich, round, baked yellow apple and honeysuckle fruit. Smooth, long, yeasty, oak finish. Good food wine , but a better “kickback” wine..

V13. Very good. Creme brûlée nose. Rich, round yellow apple and apricot fruit. Creamy, full bodied, baking spice and soft oak finish. Nicely balanced.

Mitsuko’s Vineyard. Always a nice wine. Spot of honey and nice acidity.
