A slight hint of corkiness blows off in seconds leaving blackberry jam and then a whiff of stony minerals. On the tongue, an earth or leather character appears and is framed by grippy soft tannins.

When I first tasted this, I intended to write: "maybe Kermit isn't infallible." But the more I drink it, the more I appreciate the appeal of its simple refreshing balance. It's not overly anything. I would even say it's not an overly exceptional value, but merely a very good one.

In a pinch, a damn tasty wine. A bit simple in depth and structure, but full, rich, and balanced.

Cot from the Lot River region it's birthplace. Dom. Coutale predates the revolution and presents a lively attack on the palate with dark cherry compote, ripe black plum and licorice. The tannins are round and will love that Tri Tip. A steal at $13.99
