There is nothing petite about the 2016 Petit Mont. Brooding and virile with muscularity and swagger, it also reveals a surprising number of layers and dimensions. Effusive, briary black raspberry fruit pushed forward on the nose along with garrigue and spice. But the lasting impression on my palate is one of intensely savory and stony minerality, framing the fruit and spice character very well with a foundation of cottony tannin. These elements bring the alcohol into balance. Very harmonious despite the hedonistic style.

Awesome stuff. Wine of the day. Wild fruit, incense, crushed rocks, great acid, herbs and great body without being overwhelming.

Comin' home baby. This is def a lesser cuvée of a great chateauneuf. A little hollow. But as a result, it's a great value! And quite food friendly.

A little corked and shutdown. Bummer.. Have had before and it usually sings, so rating reflects that.

Young, yes. Delicious, yes.. Incense, dried herbs, fresh hay, plum skins, wild raspberry, little warm, fresh fig, chalky minerality, etc, etc.. Let's just say this wine is quite complex. Can't wait to try it in 5-10 years.

Classic chateauneuf from a 'classic' vintage. I like the cigar, leather and fennel on the nose. Really complex for a $21 restaurant half bottle... Rose petals chocolate and strawberries as it opens up. Fresh tar also emerges on the nose. This is a hell of a wine for its price

Wow. This does not taste like CdP. Seems like very heavy proportion of Syrah and has a dark inky color as well as black pepper and olive notes. There is some fruit here, very dark and chocolate like.

I would have guessed it was a crozes hermitage wine.

Overall enjoyable despite the head fake

Southeast Rhone Valley where Catholics planted lots of old bones during times when there was a french & Italian pope. No oak - stainless & cement
