Clos Du Bois
Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
Our enormously enjoyable recent dinner at Union Square Cafe included this 1994 Sonoma Cab. It was one of those rolls of the dice. Very reasonably priced on the list, not a greatly pedigreed wine, but 94 was a really good vintage... it was quite good. A little tired and the faded ripe fruits overwhelmed everything about it. On the nose it was a bit like a Vin Santo. Lots of marzipan. But fun to try. Sometimes you need to roll the dice to score a win. But not all rolls are wins, and that's ok.
