A GMS (Grenache Mourvèdre Shiraz blend together with small percentages of Cinsault Carignan Counoise and Roussanne). Very herbal on the nose, also dry cherry notes- not surprising when you see the blend. Barb said a discreet perfume with lovely floral top notes. Delicate and ever changing. Like Grandma’s powder drawer. Such an impressive debut from a great winemaker who arguably makes the best Shiraz Viognier blend in the country. With its heavyweight tannins and white pepper punch, this is more Gigondas than CNdP. Surprisingly bright fruit despite the vintage. Needs air now and a couple more years might see it improve. A nice drop.
