Gorgeous. Love the weight, generosity, and nerve this Northern appellation showed in the bottling. Succulent, nice roundness, great harmony, perfumed and firing on all cylinders. Worn leather, ripe to dried cherry, bitter roots, dried flowers, crushed rock, tar, juniper. Has the classic cut and firmness of Alto Piedmont with just a little extra “cush” and generosity. Love these wines just wish I could have them more often.

Massimo Clerico Lessona Riserva 2012: Medium-plus bodied. Medium-plus acidity. Moderately present tannins with primary red fruit aromas & flavors. Tobacco. Menthol. Oak. Earth. Sweet spices. Dry long finish. For me, this wine was unbelievably balanced, full of life and drinking perfectly! 100% Nebbiolo…..100% pure satisfaction! Paired perfectly with several small & large bite plates including wagyu hanger steak, chef’s cut ribeye, mushroom risotto & this perfectly cooked Maui caught fish! Great day to all! Cheers🍷

Crushed flowers, mint, leather notes, dense but elegant, fresh with polished tannins. This is great Nebbiolo at still reasonable price. Drink or hold. Highly recommended.

Alto Piemonte Nebbiolo. Gorgeous, pale-brick color. Velvety, leather, ripe black fruit, dried roses, tobacco and tar, but with high-altitude and northern Piedmont freshness, minerals, and perfumed elegance. From Flatiron Wines.

Nice Alto Piemonte nebbiolo. Quite refined at this point, with 8 years of age. Decanted for an hour and the aromatics were strong from the start. A touch medicinal on the palate, but lots of restrained black fruit and some dried fruit and flowers. Medium length finish with good refreshing acid. Nice wine.

Fabulous nebbiolo from Alto Piemonte. If this came from one of the “B” appellations down south, it would cost 4-5 times as much. The high altitude of Lessona really brings an extra dimension to the grape. Downside is only 40 hectares to the entire DOC, so if you can find one, get it!
