At the Downs Club Magnum dinner on Wednesday night. Brief notes but a thoroughly impressive wine from Clarendon Hills. Big full and rich. Blue and black fruits, spice and black pepper, coffee grounds and plummy notes. Silky tannins. Northern Rhone on steroids. Very enjoyable.

Another Clarendon Hills Syrah on the secondary market. So ripe and plump with lovely savory notes together with chocolate. Lovely.

Massive black cherry with light notes of cured ham and white pepper. The palette is supple, velvety with smooth tannin. The fruit leans a little darker in the mouth with hints of black berry. Finish is long with a touch of heat. Very well structured wine ready to go another 15-20.
