Juicy blackberry and eucalyptus on the nose... Beautiful. Pepper, rich ripe plum, soft and velvety the finish goes on and on. 10/3/14

Sometimes I just want a plus-size model . . . er, I mean an Aussie old vines Grenache.

This is a classic rendition. Rich nose of oozingly ripe raspberry and warm sandstone. Large framed, with rich raspberry fruit, intense salty minerality, very good acids, and still some tannins to shed. Excellent length. It was good with my pizza but would be great with a rich winter stew.

Rusty color developing. Don't see improvement with age. Good not epic. '06 Clarendon typicity. Of the time-chocolaty garden herbs, fruit forward extraction. Crowd pleaser to newbies. Not what I'd pair with a delicate dinner but YES with a burger!

Old school old vine Aussie Grenache. Smoky, minerally deep berryish nose. Intense ripe raspberry fruit that just keeps building in purity and intensity. Plus some of that sandstoney gravel thing I associate with Aussie Grenache. Very full, and with great acids. Will last for a while.

Took @Brad Hemmer 's advice re: decanting and after an hour it opened up beautifully - smells like pine needles on a wet forest floor, a little astringent on the palate with nice tannins, peppercorns, and prunes. Coca-cola and mushroom-y finish... mmm

Dark garnet color. Aromas and flavors of plums, bramble berries, forest floor, black pepper, roasted herbs and just a bit of barnyard funk. (Which blew off quickly). Quite savory and complex. Noticeable and drying tannins. Full bodied. Well made and delicious, but reaching the end of its life cycle.
