Aside from the ridiculously high price, this is a problematic wine. At 14.8%abv it is overripe and the flavors are out of balance with the high alcohol and lamentably low acidity. Blackberry, black cherry, plum, violet, charred wood and other examples of overripe fruit and over manipulation in the winery yield a wine that bears almost to relation to Pinot noir. Reviewers I respect like Jen Dunnuck loved this wine but I find it heavy, cumbersome and far from elegant. Not for the Pinot lover at all.

Apr 2nd, 2023Reliable and always immediate. It’s a clear style of Pinot that may not be for purists but is never boring. This bottle was a bit less exuberant than most from Cirq but it was still packing “heat”. The alcohol is strong but not overwhelmed. Fleshy fruit/cherry/bright. Drinking well.
