Churchill Estates Douro Red Blend

One of the better values in the world of wine, this dry red from the Douro Valley of Portugal by #churchills at about $15-20 delivers extraordinarily a pleasing glass of red wine in the mold of the great red wines of the Douro.

Just had this soft, rich (but not heavy) Churchill's DRY red 2012 and it reminded me how everyone should know to ask for a “red from #Portugal”. A $20 #wine & amazing w pizza and #summer #bbq.

Deep and ripe, but showing a good amount of earth and spice. Really into it

In honor of Spectator's man-crush on the country of Portugal, here is a $17 wine they gave 93 points. Loaded with black fruits, chocolate, and spice. Well-structured and polished, this is a decidedly modern style - not a wine of place. Still, a great value. Also a great label.

Another great find from Portugal

Touriga blend. Slightly green initially but that gives way to chocolate covered sour cherry. Tannins still providing a back of cheek grit. Tasty stuff from Churchill

Smooth tannins. Chocolate. Stone fruit.

Cherry, raspberry, tobacco and eucalyptus on the nose. Light tannins, super dry with hints of blueberries and cherries.
