Christian Tschida
Christian Tschida Himmel Auf Erden II
I love the texture of this wine - just grippy enough to balance the honeyed/nutty/apricot/pineapple fruit. A little yeasty/hay undertone adds complexity. Not great QPR, and there are other wines that give similar pleasure for less. Still, pretty cool.

Jan 1st, 2022Grippy texture, lovely honeyed undertones, herbs, grapefruit finish, structured, really gorgeous stuff. More skin contact wines like this please.

Jan 3rd, 2021Previous vintages of this band-harvested and destemmed, foot-crushed, unfined and unfiltered blend of Scheurebe and Muscat have been quite nice, but as can happen with such a natural wine, there can be a great amount of variation from year to year, and batch to batch. This bottle of the 2017 has a pungent and persistent note of horse manure - really no other way to put it. Tons of minerality, yeastiness, and citrus rind on the palate, but it can't make up for the overwhelming, throat-grabbing taste of animal shit, which lingers and lingers and is just what one imagines it might taste like from the odor. Filthy with huge globs of mucosal brown sediment throughout. Better luck next time, Christian.
