Great times at CSJ and really enjoy the wines of both Van Staaverens. Aging well.

Opened and aired for just a few minutes. The initial notes of dried fruits and old age gave way to youthful berries. No edges-it was a treat

Even after 10+ years this is a young oak bomb. The nose is almost bordelaise with notes of stewed black fruits along with dried herbs and touches of loamy earth. The palate again shows off the oak along with firm but rounded drying tannins. Flavors of black fruits dominate the forward palate before the well integrated oak takes over along with touches of black pepper and spice. The finish continues the long, drying tannins along with gentile but very bright acidity. Lovely but easily has years to go.

Outstanding! Stood up well to the age! A bit more funky and a slight hint of tomato. Sounds bad but it was actually outstanding!
