As soon as popped the cork I got an aroma of fresh, pure maple syrup. In the glass there were also baking spices and star anise notes. Sweet plum upfront with a thin syrupy body. Smooth, very little tannins with the tiniest bit of heat on the finish. Not much to think about but will go good with dinner.

Opened this 2016 vintage May 2023 and decanted for hour. The bouquet was not full but included dark berries and earthy flavors with tad of coffee. Taste was mild tannins, not very heavy and moderate dark berries with coffee or chocolate. Would rate it good to very good but not great or outstanding.

No defect detected but this doesn’t really work for me. Much too young? Took quite some time to open up a bit, and left us with slightly herbaceous aromas. Medium length and concentration.
