Vintage 2010 | wonderful wine with a lot of expression in smell: cherries, cedar, spices. Powerful taste with still a lot of potential to ripen further. Paired with Beef Wellington

I am likely one of the few people who would sing this wines praise on it own at this stage. With the Ribcap, everyone would hail its pleasure and pairing. So good. Great time for a first look at the 2006...even better things ahead in 5 plus years.

Every bit thrilling at now the fifteen year mark, the 2005 Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte is starting to settle in nicely. Aromatically intense, you are greeted to baking spice and espresso bean aromas that meld with the deep core of spicy dark fruits on this sensational bouquet. Viscous and rich, yet elegant and light on its feet, the wine artfully dances across the mid-palate, delivering really good flavor range, from Turkish coffee to Creme de cassis and blackberry pie as well as lighter damp earth and tar tones. The exceedingly long black fruit and mineral driven finish lingers long on the tongue. Simply marvelous now, the 2005 Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte will cellar well for decades to come. This one has has beautiful florals, leaner ripe fruits, fine firm velvety tannins. Excellent acidity & finish. Buy.

Dark yellow. Quite developed with melon. Yellow floral notes, apple, straw. Advanced but good.

Inky, black pepper, licorice, minerally finish. Young but will be amazing.
