Whoaaaaa '05 Bordeaux. '04 vintage was beautifully funky. Austere and difficult for some, but I loved it. This is much more complex. A little brett, dusty tannins, heavy spice, and a very dirty nose. Terrific now, but I would love to have 1 a year for the next 10 to see how it's doing.

Black currant, red forest fruits, licorice, irony wet and heavy soil. The palate is well done with a strong acid backbone, some black currant on the sides, some nice velvetty touch on the sides. This is not very wide nor very powerful but it rolls in the mouth. The tannins are fully integrated now and leave room for a tanguy, fruity finish with a pinch of bitterness. This is simple and well done but I expected a bit more structure and power considering the vintage.

Sawdust and old chalkboard on the nose. Light and subtle with the first taste then builds through the middle that is bold, but without the fresh fruit notes from new world wines. The finish has a distinct minerality that accents the age of the wine.

Translucent burgundy, orange halo. Smells of earth, leather, and damp moss. Notes of black pepper seem to hit first followed by dark plum. Tannins are prominent, long finish. A hint of strawberry jam on the lips. This vintage was really enjoyable, especially with a French chanterelle risotto. It does not seem fully matured, personally I think another 5 years from now.
