Château Saint-Pierre
St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend
Opened about 30min before service; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2010 currently pours a deep garnet color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, developing with dark cherry, blackberry, plum, raspberry compote, pencil lead, licorice, mint, forest floor, tobacco, green bell pepper, cocoa and fine baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin, medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and slightly bitter. The nose is the star with such a complex perfume; I could spend the entire night with my nose in the glass. A lovely Fourth Growth. Drink now through 2040+.

Aug 13th, 2024Very enjoyable Wednesday Wine Committee lunch today with @Weston Eidson & @Colby Siratt hosting. Same format as always...1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine all tasted blind.
This producer was new to me. Loved it! The nose has such dark fruit wrapped in smoked/chargrilled meats. Not overly savory and zero funk, but just a killer mesh of sweet and savory. Tobacco, graphite, cassis up front with a finish of blackberry pie, leather, and herbs de Provence. This could be a wonderful wine in 7-10yrs. I called this left bank 2012 vintage.

Very nice floral and fruited nose. Black cherry, black and red fruit together. Savory spices, oak, meaty. Enjoyable but expected more from a 2010.

Jul 6th, 2023We had the 2010 Vintage on 10/30-31/22. Wonderful bouquet of black cherry and graphite. Other comments talked about cedar. Black cherry, blueberry oak and spice on the palate. The tannins were smoothed out. Medium to full bodied. Plenty of fruit in this Old World wine. Very good.
