Château Puygueraud
Francs-Côtes de Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend
80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc & 5% Malbec. Very dark and still a bit tight, but the Cabernet Franc shines through nicely! 90-91

Jan 9th, 2023Right bank again.
Newsa time to open up, 4h decant and still v. closed.
Black cherry, dark plum, cedar wood, a whiff of v. dark chocolate and (dried) orange peel. Surprisingly big yet there’s some elegance to it. Starts showing a bit of fresh black currant leaf & menthol after some time.
On the palate this is on the richer, burlier side - beefy tannins that only slowly mellow. Nice juicy acidity and dark fruit with a savoury kick. I miss the cool, gravelly elegance of the left bank a bit here.
This is a v. proper Bordeaux, yet not quite my style. Good with food though.

Nice bouquet, tannic, black fruit, little finish, decent.

Jan 1st, 2022Tight and not overly complex. However, you can taste it will age nicely. Okay for an every day merlot based Bordeaux. 80% merlot. 15% Cabernet Franc. 5% Malbec.
