Cahors Malbec
I had it at Covell. I ended up accidentally buying the same at thanksgiving in St. Louis. And now I’m back at Covell drinking it because it stands well in many ways: it has a refreshing nature—some sort of herbal underbelly to it berry cassis fun. So far my top cahors pick but there’s more to be tried...

Dec 5th, 2018"The Black Wine of Cahors" doesn't disappoint. Opaque purple color, with black fruits dominating the nose, berry, plum and currant. The wine has good weight to it, supporting the earthen notes of turned earth and wet leaves. The finish leaves a little to be desired but otherwise this is a decently powerful malbec.

Aug 12th, 2015Everything in sync. Juicy-fruity with whispers of smokey spice and fruit. Pop and pour is the joy of this Malbec…along with any grilled meats that tickles your fancy. Not for the cellar but definitely a contender for LA’s 2024 BBQ red.

It definitely has spicy ending notes. Its smooth, wet and aromatic easy drinking wine. It reminds me of sunny winters, where I used to sit on the terrace and enjoy the afternoon sun while having groundnuts.

Dec 2nd, 2021Surprisingly good. Gifted by Eunice. Learnt about French malbec from Cahors region. Malbec actually originated from France. Cp to Argentinian malbec - less fruit forward, more savory, tart, stronger tannins, better structure. While often used in bordeaux blends, malbec from Cahors stands on its own
