An absolutely fabulous 98 at its peak with some life left to go. Dark red core with very minimal bricking. At 23 years I expected this to be far more evolved but it is really beautiful. Nose of blackberry, cassis, crushed flowers, fresh coffee, with some green notes as well (peppers, tobacco and damp brush). Medium bodied with good depth and structure. Very nice. I wonder how the 98 comptesse is drinking these days?

This 20 year old Paullac still delivers with earthy tones, leather, tobacco and dark soil. Hits of pine cone is an unmistakable signature of cab and Merlot. If you smell soil in a tropical rain, this is it; you get that in a glass. It is a gorgeous typical style of left bank of Bordeaux. A beautiful comtesse.
