Sipping Fine Wine

A blend of 48% Cab Sauv, 45% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot & 3% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby with purple edges. Aromas of red fruits and flinty notes. On the palate of this youthful wine flavors of raspberry, cherry & black currants with hints of tobacco & cacao. Fine tannins, lingering ending with fruit and earthy mineral character. Nice!

Picked this up at Costco mostly because I was curious. In my opinion, this seemed bit heavy on the oak treatment but it would be popular with fans of the style. Good in its own or with hearty food.

Inky purple with brilliant tint. Youthful and compact rim.

Quite a contrast from the softer 2014, this shows a Cabernet-based character with dark cherry, blackcurrant, boysenberry, and leafy freshness on the bouquet.

The palate is certainly more interesting, a step up from the 2014. Red cherry, raspberry, red currant lifted by slightly minty freshness and baking spices while smoky hazelnut keeps it interesting.

Very commendable effort but I really wish they dialed down on Merlot in the final blend. 89+
