Château Péby Faugères
Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend
Gorgeous aromas. Wow, terrific aromas. Spicecake. Raspberry. Great inner mouth aromas. Big big ripe tannins. Terrific grip and tannins. Great cut. Juicy and long. Needs time but it’s all there.

Jun 15th, 2023Wednesday Wine Committee from this past week. A fantastic hosting by @joe leatherwood . 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 5 reds, 1 dessert wine. All tasted blind as usual.
Not familiar with this producer. Since I don’t have much context to go on, it’s hard to get a pulse on typical profile, but when comparing to the other 2000 Bordeauxs in the lineup, this seemed much older. Old baked fig, cocoa dusted dates, scorched black plum and pipe tobacco. Aged funk on the palate with leather, dried black cherries, and an herbal finish. A touch syrupy too. I called this old Brunello.

Big , bold, tight, robust, rich, this is a truly intense wine from what seems to another underrated vintage in Bordeaux. This 2011 has a ink dark color, lovely aromas of cassis, cherries, chocolate, cedar-wood, blueberries, and sweet spice, full big body with dry tannins, tight and a bit rough, nothing that a few hours decanting or 5 additional year cellaring cant solve ;-) the finish is long and chewy, the wine is truly impressive. My score 91, with a potential for a higher score in future. Drink to 2028

One of the best Saint Emilion I had, so concentrated and rich I almost thought it is a new world.
Nose is amazingly rich and deep and color is almost black. The nose evolved over time, full of black cherries, plums, black current, sweet herbs, notes of chocolate and licorice. Full body, with rich robust tannins and fin acidity, this wine needs time, it opened up in the glass and will get even better with cellaring, a lavish chewy finish, score 93+, drink 2014-2022
