Highly aromatic when first opened with a fresh, fruity nose like ripe watermelon. The wine is a dark ruby, starts off with rich and dark fruits like blackberries, figs, prunes. Over the course of dinner it brightened to black cherry, strawberry, and hawthorn. Grippy tannins. Throughout there was an undercurrent of iron and blood. An interesting wine, unlike other Bordeaux style wines I’ve had in the past!
