You have to analyze this for what it is and not what it was. This was purchased directly from Montelena in the past year. Amber and oxidized in the glass. This tastes like Jacques Selosse champagne minus the bubbles...honeyed everything upfront, with ginger, orange marmalade, and bruised pear juice. While not reminiscent of Chardonnay, I was surprised by the amount of flavor here. Pretty cool.

Monthly WTF wine group tasting. This month’s theme was chardonnay from any region or vintage. Nice eclectic bunch! All wines tasted blind.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have this wine a couple of times over the last year. Bottles were acquired direct from the winery as part of a special library release. Fully oxidized, so it’s showing classical nuttiness, fino sherry and marmalade, but what is so impressive about this is the acidity...very much alive and zippy. Drinking history! Thanks

This is a continuation of the wines that were at the fourth Friday gathering in Fort Worth, TX. As @Shay A mentioned there were too many wines to taste them all. Here are a few other great ones that Shay did not post.

This was a fun wine to try. With the age, the Caramel notes stand out most.
