Château Monbousquet
Blanc d'Exception Sauvignon Blanc Blend
Just ok. Golden yellow. Would have guessed bad from appearance but tasted fine. Past peak though.

Oct 21st, 2016For the right person could be good. A very rich, unctuous, oaky wine.

Aug 4th, 2016Bordeaux Blanc, 100% Sauvignon Blanc that has been obliterated with oak and ripeness. Not sure the density will slowly come down evenly as it ages so that it might be better with age. I can maybe see that happening, but it may be lacking in the vital acidity needed to age.

Jul 4th, 2016Love the white , especially after the ultra tannic reds, it is like going on vacation for the palate.

Apr 4th, 2014Grapefruit, elderflower, pear, melon, vanilla, hay, drizzles of honey and spice. Soft, rounded, oily and complex, while a tangy twang provides freshness and lift.
Marvelous wine.
Such a pity that this Persé-property took all white vines out a few years ago… 😫
60SB 30Sem and some dollops of Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle; ca. 4000 btls produced.

Not my favorite. Quite oaked, which is a touch surprising but similar to other years of Monbusquet blanc I’ve had. Not much of the Sauvignon / Semillon characteristic comes through. Improves a bit with some time and crucial to have not too cold.

Dec 29th, 2018Unusual find from usually all-red Saint Emilion terroirs. 2/3 Sauvignon blanc, 1/3 Sauvignon gris. Rich and long on the palate. No excess of oak but rather lots of fruits and nicely balanced. Aged well.

Sep 30th, 2018Dark golden color. Nose of pears, pineapple, kiwi, melon, vanilla, caramel; on the same spectrum as Sauternes. Luxurious. You smell this and you feel like it was paired to a dish at a 3 Michelin star restaurant. Lush, rich, creamy flavors and textures with nice minerality, medium- acid and a decent finish length.
