Château Meyney
Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend
Nose has dusty blackberry, cherry syrup, black cherry, old leather, dry soil and dried green herbs.
Palate has dry earth, dried blackberry, dried cranberry and dried cherry. A bit austere, likely needs many more hours of decanting, at 3 hours now.
A nice comparison to a 2015 version (375ml) we also enjoyed this evening. I'll take the nose of the '09 but the palate of the '15, tonight.

Rich. Cassis, blueberry and blackberry. Cedar, vanilla, coffee and some spice. Dry, mid- acidity and mid well grained tannin. Still evolving but good to drink now.

Feb 10th, 2020I had high hopes but the fruit was lacking and it was heavy on the earth tones and austere. Decanted over an hour, too bad

Jan 22nd, 201855% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% merlot, 15% Petit Verdot. This chateau was an old monastery in 1662 and is situated on Garonne gravel that lays over a clay base. Rich and full, body with a light end. On the “slightly dryer” side on the end node.
