Tasted blind. Deep tawny color with clear amber rims. Has "the funk" in the nose - an old aged Bordeaux funk. Notes of red and black fruit, some spice, some old desk wood and a little smoked meat. Very refined in the mouth. Feminine. Has a nice core of fruit, with softened tannins. Silky. As a group we distilled this down to Margaux. Guessed 55 Margaux.

Tasted blind. Regal tawny color. Almost opaque. Sweet nose, but less so than the 64 red burg. Notes of cola, red fruit, cut cigar, smoke and some nice soil and spice thing. Rustic and austere in the mouth. Still has some pucker and a little structure but acidity is lighter. Reminds me of a very old Clos de Tart I had once so go with a 45 as my guess. Right vintage, wrong grape/region. Ha.

Spoiled for drinking, but a great way to remember victory year. Happy Memorial Day.

A very special treat to taste one of the greatest vintages. The wine was still alive but had lost any brightness at this stage. Provenance was not fully known.

Coravin model two allowed me to tap into this 70 year old bottle. Smooth at first, didn’t improve much during the first 30 mins. Stayed solid throughout.
