Not the best Carmenere I've had, but definitely not bad. Almost an overwhelming sense of wet leaves, tobacco, mushrooms and cow pasture meet the nose - there is just an unapologetic blast of spice and funky earth (there's a predominant smell I instantly recognize but for some reason can't identify). What fruit is there is dark and over stewed - it just smells hot. The palette is quite different, featuring black and red fruits, still stewed, but also cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. If not an entirely good wine it is still quite interesting. Soft tannins and hot, black earth are also on display.
