Château Lanessan
Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend
Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceCassoulet wine. Couldn't imagine a better choice. Drinkable, but too much substance to be gulpable. Plenty of acid to cut the fat, and just on the threshold of tertiary development, so it's simultaneously developed and youthful. Cabernet/merlot-based wines, much like people, really shouldn't be drunk at less than ten years of age.

A vintage always overlooked and almost ready.

Nov 26th, 2014Perhaps a perfect example of what inexpensive "Old World" Bordeaux was all about. It's a great pity so few modern wine drinkers will ever be introduced to the joy of a classic traditional Haut-Medoc.

Oct 18th, 2018Served with a braised lamb shank that was simmered in a Marsala/Port/beef stock. I'm a lucky man...a few more bottles still in the cellar.
