Château Lamothe Saint Germain
Red Bordeaux Blend

Blend of primarily Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). Dark ruby/purple color. Aromas and flavors of red and black berries, black licorice and mint. An unmistakable and unpleasant funky/musty note. Low acidity makes this wine seem a bit thick and cloying. Quite hot and a bit disjointed on the palate. Maybe better with more bottle age.

Weak baking spices on the nose.
Rich tannins upfront and richness throughout the medium finish. Dark berry licorice comes through when paired with brie.
Paired with prosciutto and brie.

Wow! Amazing at the price; proper decent claret of supermarket crap money. Dense, dark, brambley. Great balance too. A good ‘food wine’

Another Wine Society special. Smooth, dark ruby red colour. Not much in the way of bouquet or lingering taste but went very well with lasagne & garlic bread.

OK claret with BBQ steak. Dark ruby colour with nice berry flavours. Nice finish.
