Château La Vivonne
Les Puechs Côtes de Provence Mourvedre
I know I'm giving a Provence a 94 pt rating..but this is truly one of the most balanced, elegant, refreshing, and well rounded rosés I've ever had. Made by Château La Vivonne, of whom I've only experienced their Bandol rosés, but this the best by far. The nose is lifted, floral, and invigorating, and the color is star bright, a perfect hue of pale salmon. The pallet is structured with finesse and focus, with an acidity that is soft, and bright at the same time. Think - cotton candy, wildflower, and lemon oil on the nose, and juicy Meyer lemon, raspberry, and white pepper on the pallet with a light grapefruit finish. Nothing is angular, everything is in beautiful flow. Stunning.. This is my new drink of spring! (While it rarely lasts in Texas)
If you're good with dough and make a mean pizza, try this with a Napolitano style pizza with spinach, Mozz, Asiago, Grand Padano, garlic, olive oil, and a squeeze of Almafi Coast Lemon (Meyer works as well)..it was the perfect recipe for a great Sunday brunch.
$16.99 - try it!

Jan 8th, 2020Great rose value anytime with BBQ! We enjoyed it with the Virgillito’s on Memorial Day poolside and gave it top marks.

Jun 1st, 2018This is a rosé for those looking for a little more from their rosé. Not sweet, but does have a soft and floral quality once it hits the palette. Started drinking this in the early evening prepping tuna and scallops for dinner (both seared) while listening to Animal Collective. Ended up pairing beautifully with said seafood, which was simply salted and browned on the cast iron skillet.
Definitely want to try more rosés from this region, not sure how many Provençal's I've truly had before me.

Like a bouquet of flowers. First off the color is amazing. It's almost bronze in elegance. Subtle acidity with layers of citrus, melon and peach.
