We were drinking classic wines from classic vintages on this particular night and this fit the bill nicely. This wine (not the ‘05) was one of the first Bdx I ever tried early in my wine drinking career. This particular bottle was as textbook as they come

Tasted blind. Dark violet color. Notes of gravel, tart black cherry, some wood. Nice richness. Looks young but has a great tasting maturity in it. Guessed Graves and 82 La Mission HB.

A very enjoyable 21 year old, Left Bank Bordeaux, from Pessac Léognan.

Showing black fruits with earth, wet leaves, herbs, oak, spices, chocolates, pencil lead, black pepper, forest floor and tobacco leaf.

Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and nice legs.

Long finish with firm tannins and tangy raspberries.

A great quality wine with good complexity and mouthfeel. I had it blind, and called it right. Missed the vintage by 2 years 😊

Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows some tannins and structure (90 minutes).

Very enjoyable now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years.

13% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$80.

Earthy & tight upon opening, but now showing nice fruit & class.

Good showing for the vintage. Nicely made wine with good fruit and structure. Needs more age to develop more complexity.

Ten years old, I am impressed. Lots of fruit, pencilshaving, autumn leaves, The taste is incredible à Point. Great wine. Velvety. This was the last vintage. The vineyard is part of La Mission HautBrion now. Excellent balance. One of my best bottles this year.
