Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc White Rhone Blend

Well past it’s prime. Sour chestnuts. Fungusy apricot. Rubber.

I bought several bottles and opened this last one about 3 years later. Nice aromas of green and stone fruits with a citrus notes. The palate shows apple, peach and pear, still crisp with good balance, fresh and lively. The finish shows nutty earthy tones. I met with the distributor, Pasternak Wine Imports a while ago who indicated this wine can be enjoyed now, but put it down for a few years, the age will benefit the wine greatly, he was right!

Exploring southern Rhône blanc wines. This one offers a very satisfying and interesting flavor profile that is rich and soft. I really like it’s distinctive floral and mineral notes and especially it’s eloquent and fragrant finish.

First CdP Blanc I’ve had. 40% Grenache Blanc, 40% Roussane, 10% Clairette, 10% Bourboulenc. Round and broad but not viscous. Finished bone dry.
