After at least 8 weeks without alcohol (sorry to all my fans lol), I had to break my fast on my anniversary with at least a glass. Unfortunately, not a standout wine. I believe I had good luck with the 2015 and or 2016 vintages of this, but here... A blast of sour red cherries on the nose and palate, candied. Super astringent, bitter.

The good news is that for 19.years I have been married to a woman who has always been my champion, has always wanted the best for me, and has stuck with me through a lot of ups and downs, including wine. Thanks Mimi, I love you baby...
Consider this your card 😅

Powerhouse Merlot. Tons of minerality and dense tannic structure. Primary fruit is a bit buried by tobacco, spicebox and chocolate but that is not wholly a bad thing. There is lots of character and cellarability here.

Dark fruits, very giving right now. Filled out in the glass over the course of dinner. Sustained well. Not terribly complex but pleasing enough.
Enjoyed over dinner at the Harvard Club in NYC where the fare as earnest as the dining hall is grand.

3.4. Excellent Bordeaux, wonderful nose after it has had some time to breathe. Lovely complex flavor and good aftertaste. Somewhat pricey for a 2015, on sale for$28.49, regularly $34.99.

It took an hour for the wine to open but it in the end it was a deep, muscular, slightly tannic, brambled fruit. .
