Luckily I got this for free. This is just a bad wine in a difficult year. Tastes like nail polish.

Jack & Arden put together a wonderful evening of delicious food and great wines, and a few of us attendees contributed some bottles to enjoy as well. Great night!

Served blind. Quintessential Sauternes. I guessed late ‘90s. Honeyed marmalade, honeycomb, toasted scone and apricot preserves.

Beautifully fresh and lifted. Bright honeyed fruit with honeysuckle and white flowers. Great balance and underpinning acidity.

Making Sauternes is just crazy difficult I give the extra-credit for the effort. Certainly not at Ch. d’Yquem levels of concentration but still loaded with tangerine, crême brûlée, mango, and savory herb. A great choice if you don’t want to spend for kings.

Cocktail hour at Christie's hosted by the Friends of Notre Dame in the effort to help raise money for the cathedral's restoration. The wines were artfully curated by @Noah May.
The third of the wines served was this exquisite Sauternes that burst with apricots, honey and orange peel. Sometimes I wish I had the occasion to drink dessert wines more often. This was one of those moments.

For desert, which I forgot to snap a photo, we had Jenny’s Toasted Almond Sponge Cake with Housemade Citrus Marmalade & Toasted Swiss Meringue. The 2001 Chateau Guiraud was drinking nicely but will continue to develop for another 20 years plus. Beautiful fresh & dried stone fruits; apricots, peach, orange citrus, nectarines & pineapple. Marmalade, honey, nuts with skin, lovely round acidity, beautifully soft integrated minerality and rich polished finish.
