This 2015 Saint Emilion showcases a deep ruby color with alluring garnet highlights, suggesting a wine that has begun to mature gracefully. With a medium to full-bodied frame and a modest 13.5% alcohol content, it presents a captivating bouquet of cedar, prominent tobacco leaf, and supple leather, intertwining harmoniously with underlying layers of brooding red and blue fruits, adding depth and complexity. Delicate nuances of baking spices further enhance the aromatic profile.

On the palate, this wine exhibits a medium-length finish, with tannins that possess a fine yet powdery texture, imparting a sense of elegance. The finale reveals a slight bitterness, creating an intriguing contrast. Overall, it delivers an abundance of heavily spiced flavors that may captivate those with a penchant for bold expressions.

While this wine did not resonate as a personal favorite, it may still appeal to those seeking a distinctive tasting experience. Considering its qualities, I would award it a respectable 86-point rating.

An absolute QPR rockstar. The evolution in the glass over 3 hours is definitely worth the $22 ride. All in!

May 30, 2021. Purchased in Bordeaux May 2016 at the wine store across from the Madison du Vin. Appropriate to have w/ C. Although I love left bank Bordeaux, this was quite good. Medium to Full bodied. Dark red fruit and truffle on the nose, cherry, smoke, earth and black pepper. Not disappointed.

Really aging well. Good fruit, cigar box and well balanced. Tannins are well integrated and 13 ABV. Just what I want with a ribeye!

2010. Surprisingly restrained and subdued. Not bad, just a bit leaner than expected. Still a lovely bottle for the money.

2005, Chateau Gros Caillou, Saint Emilion Grand Cru. Eucalyptus, Cherry, smoke on the nose. Blackberries, tart cherries, wet wood, forest floor, dark chocolate, black pepper and spices on the finish. Still has some grippy tannins on the finish. Well balanced and drinking well for an inexpensive right bank Bordeaux.

Had the 1999 and made the mistake to decant for an hour. This Saint Emillion was not bad at all just after opening the bottle but went over the top after decanting.
