Valle d'Aosta DOC Fumin

Gorgeous Alpine red with a bright purple hue. Offers some slightly grilled scents and earthy tones featuring rose petals, white pepper, and dried leaves. Not a TON of fruit but I’m picking up on dark cherries. Super tight with a highly structured body that melts quickly with heat into plums and more cherries. Long dry finish.

2014. Brambly forest berries and wet river stones give way to a zippy light body with a subtle yet pure finish. Purple. It's sort of like the best Lambrusco ever but on steroids.

2011. Exotica. Light body, earthy, spicy, rustic. Not inexpensive.

Black cherry, bramble, plum, smoke, earth, rose petals, dried fruit, dried leaves, graphite, violet. Med+ acidity, med+ body, smooth sweet tannings, deep purple color

My first fumin. Dark fruit, earth, spice, leather. For a wine that was 6 years old, it still had a remarkable Alpine freshness to it that I found to be very exciting. Will definitely try others! 90% Fumin, 10% Syrah. 8/14/22.

As always: dark as blood, but on the palate, smooth as silk. Traces of violets, plums, and what is the right amount of acidity.

Raspberries on wet slate with a slight tobacco kicker. Good stuff.

Clear, deep, purple. Clean, rich black fruits, black berries, plums, cherries, smoked chipotle, hint of mushroom. Dry, high acidity, medium to light bodied, low tannins. Less fruit on taste with minerals, and inky slate. Medium finish.
