Moulis en Médoc Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

This was way closed when I last had it maybe 3 years ago. It’s very nice now. Very much old school Cru Bourgeois. Cedar and underbrush-infused cassis and dark berry fruit. Some gravel. A leaner styled Bordeaux. Cooling, graphite and ink-like minerality. Very linear. Still some drying tannins, but very good length and balance. If you’re looking for a 14.5 New World lookalike, avoid this. If you want to taste what solid working class Bordeaux tasted like around 1980, pre-global warming, this is it.

We had the 2010 Vintage on 7/30-31. Graphite and cigar box on the bouquet. The palate had black cherry, plum and a nice spice. Well balanced, full bodied. Old World. Good for the value. The tannins were smoothed out.

Very nice wine. Drinking the 2010.

Currant and cassis nose. Hint of cedar and tobacco. Oaky tannins - smooth and long. Young red fruit at earliest edible but not perfectly ripe. Readily approachable

2010 vintage. Just ok. Not a lot of anything on the nose. Finish is ok.

Strong alcohol taste at first but opens up nicely after about an hour. I enjoyed this one.
