Château Ducru-Beaucaillou
Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend
The 1999 Ducru packs a punch. Leather, bacon fat, spice and an infinitely long finish. This wine tasted fairly youthful given it is nearly 20 years old.

Nov 10th, 2018This killed the 99 pichon lalande we had side by side. Much more fruit, very plush and full bodied. A touch riper than the lalande. Really screams st Julien. Drink this beauty now and over the next 5-10 years

Nov 2nd, 2018Tasted 3/15.
Decanted. Beautiful balance, only slight greenness. Non-offensive sulfer blew off in 30 minutes. Reticent nose with leather and cherry. Integrated tannins, great acid. Growth over dinner to reveal rich fruit, cocoa over tones. A wonderful wine, underrated IMHO.

Historic 2nd Growth Left Bank blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (72%) and Merlot (27%). Dark red brick color. Aromas are more tertiary (fruit has subsided over time) and include chocolate, toasted nuts, graphite and minerals. Still a bit of dried fruit (black raspberry/cherry/plum) on the palate with a touch of vanilla and mineral and baking spices. Beautiful mouthfeel due to the very silky tannins. Wonderfully soft and smooth. Quite interesting to experience what bottle age can do for high quality wine. Still has some time left but heading to the finish line. Thank you so much for bringing this bottle, Kase.
