Côtes de Bourg Red Bordeaux Blend
Côtes de Bourg, Côtes De Bordeaux, Bordeaux, France
2022 vintage. Another Castel family estate ( since 1960),and again amazing value for money. Lighter colour, and more immediately open compared to the Tour Prignac 2022 tasted alongside. Very accessible, charming, everyday Bordeaux. Abv. 14%.

Oct 6th, 2025Good, honest Bordeaux. Sophisticated without being challenging. Would drink again without hesitation.

Feb 24th, 2021Subtle Blackberry and cherry notes, with a bit of spice. Great, decanted, with beef Wellington.

Tar, black currant, cedar, tobacco, a bit of heat too. The palate is very nice with a velvety texture all along. A good acid backbone, a bright black fruit, a milky mouthfeel with a bit of weight on the sides, some gentle tannins rolling in mid palate and a long fruity finish with that milky mouthfeel. It's not very complex but it's well crafted. It's difficult to place in côtes de bourg though as this very generic.

Smells of barn, wet earth, and tamarind / cinnamon. Very sharp tannins with powerful acidity. Big body.
Notes of rasin, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Spicy finish.
