As the pandemic Xmas from home continues with above average cooking I continue to go through my wine fridges looking for bottles that I should have had a while ago. So this 1989 Chateau de Pommard is special to me because it was the first high end wine I bought with my own money ex Chateau. Cork was still in very good condition and the wine tastes fabulous despite its age. This is a quintessential Burgundy and it is surprising it kept that well that many years. An outstanding wine and opening up nicely now after 30 mins in the decanter

Long story, but Big Fred left a few of these in my care when he moved from Calgary to Abu Dhabi a few years back. So nice to be able to share one with him in TO tonight now that he is back in Canada. Fresh berries up front with serious herbs and spice at the back end. Mid-tannins and strong finish. This is an awesome mid-full bodied Pinot. It has traveled well.

Fanrtastic evening with David who brought this 2009 Pommard as a gift. I tried to underline the taste with a "canard au confit d'onion". It was a right choice. Thanks David! What an amazing evening!!

I love this wine. I ordered it while in France. Only one bottle left. Mild flavor but very woodsy.
