Splurge night last night in St. Martin where we found an excellent wine store in Grand Case. This wine was the big bro to one we had earlier in the week and loved. This is s beautiful expressive wine with medium soft finish even when first opened. Nose of deep tar, color of garnet and taste of cassis and soft leather. I would say price is a bit high since the baby bro was almost as great for $18 more....

2007 vintage. Pronounced aromas of vegetables, asparagus and grassy notes. Honeysuckle and hazelnut. I think there's botrytis here; my drinking partner, Gilles, thinks its oxidation notes. Medium plus body, high acidity, medium plus alcohol and medium plus flavour concentration. The texture of this wine is quite viscous in nature. The finish is long, with the honey and bitterness from the acidity prevalent. Very interesting.
