2020 vintage. A blend of 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. A little timid in the beginning, but opened up fine after 15 minutes in the glass. Purity of fruit ( both black and red), 2020 freshness, Pessac-Léognan spiciness and high quality tannins.Long finish with a nice licorice touch. Great value too, somehow Fieuzal remains somewhat under the radar. Stephen Carrier makes the wine, Thomas Duclos consults.

Nov 18th, 2024Popped and poured, the 2020 pours a deep ruby with near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with dark fruits with brambles and cassis, tobacco, just a touch of green bell pepper, earth, and baking spice. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. A balanced and charming example from Pessac-Leognan that’s giving pleasures in its youth. An estate on the rise. Drink now through 2035+.
