Château de Bellevue
Lussac St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend
Nose has moist leather, blackberry jam, grilled red pepper, dried blueberry, dry cedar shavings, dried black cherry, dried rose and dry gravel.
Palate has dried blackberry, dried blueberry, sauted red pepper, minor cedar box, Cuban cigar, ripe plum, lingering acidity and mild tannins. Overall in a quite nice spot this evening.
Perfect pair to homemade burgers from a local farmer in Columbia Co. NY (Kinderhook Farm), cooked to a beautiful medium-rare served on toasted brioche burger rolls. Topped with the first harvest of our heirloom lettuces, it was a cool 44°F this morning so ideal timing to trim lettuce in the cold frame today. Home grown tomato topping will have to wait until August. 🤷♂️
Decanted 6h+ and doing just fine. Last bottle displayed heavy green pepper and herbal notes, not this bottle, more to our expectations. Can continue to hold/evolve another 6-10+ in proper storage.
95% Merlot / 5% Cabernet Franc

19 year old Bordeaux. Impressive. The tannins have broken down, but the wine still has good structure. It's really an art to appreciate these old wines, and I am just getting started.

Nov 25th, 2017An exceptionally well priced Right Bank Bordeaux showing typical Merlot qualities. Blackberry pie, mocha, leather, earth and subtle hints of green herbs.

Nov 10th, 2015Drinking beautifully. 93 % Merlot 7% Cabernet Franc. A quick decant to get the sediment off. Tannins have resolved. Secondary notes in full form. Delicious!
