Old tawny color. Mostly transparent with clear rims. Great old wine nose. Notes of ripe plum, red fruit, some earth and spice, a little kirsch and some herbs. Silky in the mouth. Great texture. Very Burgundian. Still at a nice peak in terms of where it’s at. This was from a great looking bottle with a high fill. Good stuff.

Tawny color with clear rims. Dark body but translucent. Ethereal nose. Notes of plums, herbs, some anise , some cherry kirsch. High pitched fruit forward. Burgundian in its style with great mouth feel. Nearing the end of its long and extended drinking window but great bottles like this one tonight still deliver with great emotion.

Bright tawny color. Regal in the glass. Notes of tart cherries, dry herbs, a little menthol, earth, some mocha. The cherry note is strong and enjoyable. Similar to prior experiences with this wine, it’s very Burgundian. Always solid. Still in a great drinking window.

This was served blind. My guess was CdP around 20-25yrs old...just a few years off. Brilliantly clean and pure. Raspberry, blackberry, tea leaf and clove leap from the glass. The core of this wine is raspberry through and through. Earthy and dusty, and a small dose of black peppercorn spice (normally I pick up a lot of this in their youth). Brambly and complex. Drinking well.

Tawny with light rims. Great nose. Notes of wispy herbs, pepper, sappy kirsch liqueur and some dry dust. Nicely balanced fruit with perfect structure to match. Elegant and classy.

Reddish amber, clear, bright and mostly translucent. Great nose with notes of cranberry, dried herbs, plum, white pepper and a little smoke. In the mouth this is instantly open for business. Silky and smooth. Lovely fruit, balanced with wonderful structure and energy. Long lasting finish. This wine continues to perform, with no sign of decline on the horizon.

Love 1990 Rhones! No doubt hints of Brett, but quickly buried beneath beautiful red fruit. Powerful mid palate, long long finish
