Gosh, this was good. This wine embodied everything so wonderful about old Bordeaux, that balance of power, concentration, grace, elegance and, most notably here, freshness. This had spice, dried meats and macerated cherries alongside the tertiary notes of forest floor and cedar wood. Impeccably balanced on the palate, it improved throughout the two hours I spent drinking it and is another wonderful example of the 1989 vintage.

This is a full on wine that has plenty of leather, cherry and raspberry notes. Long and generous finish. Hedonistic.

Bright. Lively. It feels elegant in the palate, no blunt or sharp edges here. Summer fruit, mocha. Long finish. Classy.

'05 vintage, elegant, not showing its age, mostly primary fruit, plums, cassis, very subtle, well integrated oak spice. Dare I say not very typical St. Emilion as the Cabernets shows too prominently.
