Château Cormeil-Figeac
Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Very fresh nose of red berries, and medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, red currants, earth, light wood, spices, coffee, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs and peppercorn.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 6 year old Merlot from Saint Emilion is still very young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Elegant and complex, but a little restrained now.
A good quality wine. Very fresh and young tasting, and a good food wine.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine.
A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.
$30.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several days. The 2020 pours a deep purple color with an opaque core and a ruby rim; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe black and red fruits: cassis, black cherry, raspberries, plums, pencil shavings, purple flowers, licorice, iron rich earth and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with some really nice minerals. This was a surprisingly delightful, classic, if not somewhat rustic Right Bank Bordeaux. I really dig this. Drink now through 2035.

Feb 20th, 2025A phenomenal value in rustic Bordeaux. Old world to it's core. Underripe berry, prune, basement mold, formative acidity and chalky, paper tannins. Great structure and elegance. This is in a wonderful spot now. Complex and changing by the second, but utterly enjoyable. I'm only 27 so I could never have Bordeaux from the 70s and 80s when it was young...but something tells me it was closer to this than many more modern St. Emilions.

Its about the subtleties here. Blackberries/currants, leather, black pepper. Nice tannins. Very food friendly and great with beef stew

Costco find that wish I overlooked, hard to believe Decanter gave this 96… uninspiring, black fruit & soil, licorice, nothing wrong just lacking polish one expects
