1918. When I got to this beauty there was little left and much sediment. However it was alive and deep purple and amazing.

I only had the last few bits. A tad unfair. Incredibly fine sediment somehow managed not to overwhelm a tremendous classic.

From before there was world war... An incomparable experience, a gift from Dan Ginsburg to Olivier BONVILLE who shared it with me. Paired with giant steaks cooked in Olivier's fire place and a creamy potato gratin. Tea leaves, blue fruit and completely resolved tannins made this 101 year old bottle something I will never forget.

This was a bit shagged but showed images of old cedar, moist forest floor with great dusty tannins

Definitely mature, plenty of truffle, leather & game; with time it opens up to show great complexity

3L 1978 Cheval Blanc Bordeaux. Drank at holiday Nobu dinner. This was served in the final flight alongside the 1975 Lafite Rothschild. K and I both preferred than wine by a long shot. So smooth and complex. Amazing.
